The mission
Our mission is to promote the training of human resources in taxonomy at different levels, contributing to increasing knowledge of biodiversity and minimizing taxonomic limitations in Brazil. The laboratory's central objective is to train more taxonomists so that, at a regional and national level, knowledge of biodiversity can be expanded and this knowledge can be disseminated to different sectors of society. The laboratory provides scientific services to society, identifying species of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) both for academics (undergraduates, master's students and doctoral students) who wish to know and recognize AMF as well as for farmers who intend to apply these symbiotic fungi in their crops (this service is not charged).
The page was created with the aim of publicizing advances in the taxonomy and systematics of Glomeromycota, allowing a broader view of classification proposals by the national scientific community. We are still under construction to meet the taxonomic demands that exist in the country, mainly to provide useful tools for the identification and description of species of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi, which have been the biggest limitation of taxonomic advances in the country.
